Tour Summary

Mt. Elgon is Kenya’s second highest mountain. It lies 140km North East of Lake Victoria and is bisected by the Kenya-Uganda border.

Day 1:

Leave Bundari village after breakfast and Hike for 13km to Sasa River Camp (2,800m) through the rich highlands.
Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 2:

An early breakfast hike for 5km to Mude cave camp for lunch. Explore this ancient caves once used as hide out in tribal wars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3:

Leave after breakfast and hike up to peak Wagagai (4,300m) and the Jackson summit (4,200m), which are lower than Wagagai.
Descend to Sasa River for Dinner and overnight camp.

Day 4:

Descend the last bit of the mountain to Budandari village where the trip ends. An optional of an extra day to visit the hot springs and the Caldera is advisable.
